Writer's Note:
As more and more people shop online (myself included), I really feel for the delivery workers, especially as winter goes into full effect. At the very least, these jobs pay the bills and helps people get by, but just like Uber/Lyft drivers and Amazon warehouse employees, these are jobs with both limited reward and duration, especially as large companies and venture capitalists spend millions on finding ways to replace them with robotics. It's a brutal kind of progress, to the point where I'm not sure I can fairly call it that.
