Fireworks are probably a simpler and prettier method for deflecting murderous anthropomorphic moons compared to manipulating the flow of time to summon 4 giants with magical masks possessed by the spirits of the dead...
...but then again, Majora's Mask wouldn't have been nearly as fun if Link just used fireworks :)
Also, the time-travel-magical-mask-summon-giants method is also probably a lot more environmentally friendly than fireworks, so they have that going for them too.
