Well, brains do consume a lot of glucose...
But really, Sarah and I like the Alola redesigns of Gen 1 Pokemon so much that we don't really care about the Nintendo's justifications. It's just that the official Pokedex entry for Alola Raichu, which we quote in Panel 1, is just too silly to not make a comic about it.
And yes, while we're definitely doing a lot of Pokemon comics this summer, that's mostly due to the general dearth of gaming news during this time of year (ignoring the toxic cesspool that is the current debate over No Man's Sky), and the fact that Nintendo is doing an incredible job with incremental news leaks about Sun & Moon heading into the release this fall.
