Artist's Note:
Hey guys, so I recently started up a Ko-fi for Berds & Nerds! I'm still new to it, so hopefully I'll be able to figure out how it works. However, I've been meaning to start this up since folks have been inquiring about sending donations to us. Just click below!
Writer's Note:
While I understand why the Octopath Traveler devs used this ghosting mechanic to avoid writing out hundreds (or maybe thousands) of possible character interactions, it's still a bit jarring from a player experience and dings the storytelling as a result. But the rest of the game is pretty tight (great combat mechanic, great visuals) and it's benefiting from the pent-up demand for old school JRPGs that Square only became aware of after the surprise success of the Bravely Default series. My hope is that they put this new hybrid-pixelated graphics engine to good use and continue creating more classic RPG games, ideally with a full commitment to linear storytelling rather than the awkward (but unavoidable) compromise Octopath Traveler takes.
