I have a friend who lives in Yokohama that sends me pictures every year of this particular event, and it appears to be growing exponentially. In the beginning it was just a handful of Pikachus marching through a local mall. Then they expanded to the nearby plaza, engaging in dances of ever-increasing choreographic sophistication. This year they are everywhere. You can find Pikachus in alleys, parks, and even on boats sailing around Yokohama bay.
I can only imagine what next year will bring.
